SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University women's basketball team had its four-game winning streak come to an end Tuesday night in a 73-61 loss against Millersville University at Morrow Field House.

With the loss, Slippery Rock's record drops to 5-3 overall on the season and to 1-3 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference competition. The Marauders improve to 6-3 overall and 4-1 in league play with the victory.

SRU stayed with Millersville for all 40 minutes, but ultimately could not overcome a first half in which The Rock shot just 26.5 percent from the field.

Slippery Rock placed three players in double figures with senior forward D'Asia Chambers leading the way with 17 points in addition to grabbing 13 rebounds, passing out three assists, blocking three shots and making two steals.

Chambers, who has a PSAC-high six double-doubles on the season, is now nine points shy of eclipsing the 1,000-point plateau for her career.

Junior guards Erica Aiello and Breanna Gross added 13 and 12 points, respectively, with Gross also pulling down five rebounds off the bench.

Senior forward Danielle Garroutte chipped in six points and five rebounds as well. The five rebounds matched a season-high.

After trading baskets to start the contest, Millersville went on a 23-12 run to open its largest lead of the first half at 32-21 with 3:57 to play in the period and would eventually take a 38-30 advantage into halftime.

Slippery Rock regrouped during the break and came out of the locker room on a 6-0 run to cut the Marauders' lead down to 38-36 with 18:46 remaining in the game.

However, the two-point margin would be as close as The Rock would get. Despite The Rock's stout nationally-ranked defense limiting the Millersville offense to a 33.3 shooting percentage in the second half, the Marauders slowly rebuilt their lead to as many as 13 points before finishing with the 73-61 win.

For the game, Slippery Rock held advantages over Millersville in rebounds (44-43), assists (11-8), blocks (6-4) and points in the paint (36-28).

Reigning PSAC –East Player of the Week Carly Gallagher and Shelby Reimer scored 18 points apiece for Millersville.
