D'Asia Chambers eclipsed the 1,000-point plateau for her career, but the Slippery Rock University women's basketball team lost to Shippensburg University 86-48 Wednesday night at Morrow Field House.

Slippery Rock falls to 5-3 overall and 1-4 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play with the loss. The victory snaps the Raiders' three-game losing streak and improves their record to 6-5 overall and 2-3 in league play.

SRU was unable to overcome the game's first 10 minutes that saw Shippensburg outscore The Rock 30-5 en route to the victory.

Chambers entered the game needing nine points to become the 14
th player in Slippery Rock history to score 1,000 points in a career. After scoring eight points in the first half, Chambers reached the milestone with a successful layup on her first attempt of the second half.

For the game, Chambers finished with a team-high 18 points on 6-of-13 shooting from the field and a 6-for-7 effort from the foul line. Now at 1,009 points, she needs eight more points to pass Linda Myers as the 13
th highest scorer in Rock history.

Chambers, who entered the game as the only player in the PSAC to rank in the top 10 in the league in scoring, rebounding, assists, steals, blocks and field goal percentage, also had six rebounds.

Other top performers for The Rock on Wednesday included junior guard
Breanna Gross and freshman guard
Lindsay Homan. Gross pulled in a season-high six rebounds and blocked two shots while Homan scored a personal-best seven points in 10 minutes.

Stephanie Knauer scored a game-high 31 points and Colleen Young grabbed nine rebounds in the victory for Shippensburg.

Slippery Rock will look to return to its winning form when it plays at Kutztown University on Saturday in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference play. Tipoff against the Golden Bears is set for 1 p.m.
