SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The 24
th ranked Slippery Rock University women's soccer team extended its season-long winning streak to four games with a 3-0 victory against Gannon University in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference competition Wednesday afternoon at James Egli Field.

The win improves Slippery Rock's record to 7-2-1 on the season overall and to 6-2-1 in league matches. The victory was also the 246
th in head coach
Noreen Herlihy's career. She needs just four more wins to become the 11
th head coach in NCAA Division II women's soccer history to amass 250 career wins. Gannon falls to 5-6-0 overall and 5-5-0 in conference contests.

The shutout was The Rock's third in its last four games and its sixth overall in 2014. SRU is yet to lose at home this season with an unbeaten record of 5-0-1.

The trio of
Caitlin Binder,
Ali Brosky and
Allison Harbart all scored goals in the first half to lead Slippery Rock to the win. Brosky's score was her fourth of the season while Binder and Harbart both tallied their first goal of the year with their respective strikes.

Rock goalkeeper
Annabelle Hegeman recorded her PSAC-high fifth clean sheet of the year after stopping five Gannon shots, including a second half penalty kick.

Slippery Rock held advantages over the Golden Knights in total shots (14-9) and shots on goal (9-5) while Gannon edged The Rock in corner kicks (9-6).

SRU posted its first goal of the afternoon in the 14
th minute when
Tess Keeley played a pass into Binder who proceeded to finish the possession with a shot that beat Gannon goalie Shannon Differ. Brosky quickly added another goal just over 10 minutes later.

 With just 18 seconds left in the first half, Keeley's shot was blocked by Gannon's Danitza Indacochea, who replaced Differ after SRU's second goal, only to have Harbart put back a rebounded shot to send Slippery Rock into halftime with a commanding 3-0 lead.

The Rock's defense controlled the second half by successfully clearing six Gannon corners and only allowing three shots on goal to close out the win. The highlight of the final 45 minutes of play occurred 15 minutes into the half when Hegeman made a diving save on Mani Brueckner's penalty kick.

Keeley led all players with a game-high three shots on goal. Brosky and Binder logged two shots on goal as well with Harbart and
Dara Demich putting one shot on target each.

Five different Golden Knights took shots on goal Wednesday while Indacochea stopped four shots after replacing Differ at goal.

Slippery Rock now begins a stretch of five road contests over its final seven games starting with a trip to Mercyhurst University Saturday at 1 p.m.
