SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The No. 24 Slippery Rock University women's soccer team had its season-long five game winning streak snapped Friday with a 3-1 loss to Bloomsburg University at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference defeat drops SRU's record to 8-3-1 overall and 7-3-1 in league play. The Huskies improved to 6-6-1 overall and 5-6-1 in the PSAC with the victory.

Slippery Rock controlled possession for much of the game and finished the day with solid advantages in shots (13-8), shots on goal (9-4) and corner kicks (5-2), but Bloomsburg erased an early Rock lead with three goals in the second half to secure the comeback-victory.

Ali Brosky led Slippery Rock in the loss by scoring her fifth goal of the season while reigning PSAC Women's Soccer Athlete of the Week
Caitlin Binder registered a team-high three shots.
Brooke Edwards also chipped in on the SRU attack with two shots.

Bloomsburg's Michelle Kinka paced the Huskies' comeback with two goals. Ashley Sanchez added the final BU score and Hannah Miller assisted on both of Kinka's goals.

Slippery Rock got off to a great start early on when Brosky dribbled around a defender and fired a shot past Bloomsburg's Megan Deak from the top right of the Bloomsburg box to put SRU up 1-0 in the 16
th minute. The Rock had two more shots in the first half, but Edwards' attempt was saved while a shot by
Dara Demich sailed high as the game went to halftime with Slippery Rock holding the one-goal advantage.

The Huskies struck quick to begin the second period thanks to Kinka, who scored in just 59 seconds to even the contest at 1-1. The match remained tied for the following 29 minutes until Kinka found the back of the net for a second time to give Bloomsburg a 2-1 lead.

Binder,
Tess Keeley and
Leslie Henny all put shots on goal following the go-ahead score, but Deak was able to come away with a save each time. Sanchez put the game away with Bloomsburg's third goal of the half with four minutes to play en route to the win.
Bloomsburg's three goals were the most allowed by The Rock since Kutztown scored three times in a victory against SRU on Sept. 15, 2012.

Slippery Rock will have the opportunity to quickly bounce back from Friday's loss when it hosts Lock Haven at 3 p.m. Saturday on the turf of Mihalik-Thompson Stadium. Prior to the contest, SRU will honor its 2014 senior class.

Saturday is also The Rock's Coins for Cancer game. Rock soccer asks that those in attendance put their spare change into one of the containers located throughout the home bleachers for breast cancer research. All donations will go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
