SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University men's soccer team dropped a close 1-0 decision to Bloomsburg University Saturday afternoon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference competition at Mihalik-Thompson Stadium.

The loss snaps Slippery Rock's three-game home winning streak and drops its record to 7-5-0 overall and 3-3-0 in the PSAC. Bloomsburg exits the game at 7-4-2 overall and 5-2-0 in league contests.
Dom Francis tallied a team-high two shots on goal to lead the Green and White.
Stephen Donnelly and
Peter Boylan both added shots on goal as well in what was a very physical contest. Rock goalkeeper
Steven Rerick stopped three shots in 90 minutes of play.

Spencer Conrad scored the game's only goal 16:35 into game when he cleanly fielded a pass by Austin Transue by heading an attempt past Rerick for the score.

The SRU defense spent the rest of the game successfully clearing every Bloomsburg scoring attempt while The Rock's offense proceeded to create several close scoring chances. However, the Huskies' backline was able to hold Slippery Rock scoreless on the way to a one-goal victory.

Bloomsburg held a 10-9 edge in total shots with both teams placing four shots on goal. SRU finished with a 6-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Jared Ott stopped four shots in goal for the Huskies to earn the shutout.

Slippery Rock will have the opportunity to quickly bounce back from Friday's loss when it hosts Lock Haven at 5:30 p.m. Saturday on the turf of Mihalik-Thompson Stadium. Prior to the contest, SRU will honor its 2014 senior class of Francis, Donnelly,

Anthony Jack,
Josh Brake and
Ryan Van Dorick.

Saturday is also The Rock's Coins for Cancer game. Rock soccer asks that those in attendance put their spare change into one of the containers located throughout the home bleachers for breast cancer research. All donations will go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
