Six minutes after Gilmour's goal, Boylan produced the equalizer for SRU on an assist by Pcholinsky. Slippery Rock then grabbed the lead in the 18th minute off of Ilodigwe's goal with Boylan quickly adding his second score of the evening at 26:40 to give Slippery Rock a commanding 3-1 edge heading into halftime.

After a long stretch of scoreless play, Nick Kutcher nearly put Slippery Rock up 4-1 in the 74th minute when his header off of a Francis corner kick just ricocheted off the crossbar.

However, SRU would get its fourth goal just minutes later when Boylan drew a foul in the Cedarville zone that allowed Francis to take a penalty kick, which he converted by beating CU goalie Ethan Dewhurst to the upper left of the goal at 74:33.

Donnelly furthered Slippery Rock's lead by finishing his fifth goal of the season after making a long run to the right side and placing his shot high past Dewhurst with 12 minutes left to play.

Gilmour tallied his second goal of the night in the game's waning moments as Slippery Rock cruised to the 5-2 victory.

For the game, Slippery Rock held an 8-6 advantage in shots on goal while Cedarville edged The Rock in corner kicks (8-1) and total shots (17-16).
