SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. – The Slippery Rock University field hockey team was upended 1-0 by Indiana (Pa.) in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action from Mihalik-Thompson Stadium Wednesday afternoon.

The PSAC-rivalry match featured intense defense as neither side was able to produce much offensively. Gabriela Feaser recorded the game's lone goal on a feed from Chelsea Wannamaker in the 24th minute. Wannamaker received a pass at the top of the circle on a penalty corner before finding Feaser, who received a fortuitous bounce on a deflection that snuck behind the SRU keeper, giving IUP a 1-0 lead and the eventual game-winner.

The visiting Crimson Hawks controlled possession to earn their third consecutive victory, while The Rock was held scoreless for the second time in its last three games. The win extends IUP's win streak in the series against The Rock to seven games, all of which have been decided by a single goal.

The Rock, fresh off a dramatic 2-1 victory over No. 5 East Stroudsburg on Homecoming Sunday, was unable to find the back of the cage despite outshooting the Crimson Hawks 9-4. Senior Kelsey Gustafson and junior Casey Young led the offensive attack for SRU with two shots apiece.

Junior Carlee DuMars was tagged for the loss to fall to 4-5 on the season. DuMars allowed one goal and made one save in the defeat.

Darian Shuker picked up the win to improve to 3-4 this fall. Shuker made four saves in the shutout victory.

Slippery Rock falls to 4-5 overall and 2-3 in PSAC action with the loss, while Indiana improves to 3-4 overall and 2-3 in league play.

The Rock returns to PSAC action with a road date at No. 1 Millersville Saturday.
