AUBURNDALE, Fla. -- Friday afternoon's scheduled baseball doubleheader between Slippery Rock University and Notre Dame College of Ohio at Lake Myrtle Park was interrupted by a relentless shower in the top of the 10th inning with the score tied at 0-0 and ultimately washed out.
The game will go down in the record book as a tie. The Rock, therefore, owned a 4-5-1 record at the end of the day, while Notre Dame had a 6-8-1 record.
Along with the tie on the team record, the statistics from Friday's action will also count.
Four Rock players had a single each, while Notre Dame's offense consisted of three singles.
Senior southpaw
Zach Jeney was The Rock starting pitcher and allowed two hits, struck out five, walked one and hit two batters in the first seven innings.
Sophomore right-hander
John Kovalik walked one and hit one batter in two hitless innings of relief action.
Each team had opportunities to score and ultimately win the game, but neither one could push across the needed tally.
SRU is scheduled to return to action at 5 p.m. Saturday, when it will take on Ohio Dominican University in a nine-inning single game at Lake Myrtle Park.
The Rock will be idle Sunday before playing six games in four days to close out their annual spring-break schedule.
