LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Junior left-hander Zach Jeney pitched a complete-game, seven-inning no-hitter in Saturday's first game to lead Slippery Rock University to a 5-0, 3-0 doubleheader sweep of hosting Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division baseball rival Lock Haven University.

Jeney (6-1) struck out six and walked four in the process of recording the second “no-no” thrown by a Rock pitcher this spring. Sophomore southpaw Joby Lapkowicz had a similar gem April 3 at division rival Clarion University.

Freshmen right-handers Lou Trivino (left picture) and Ryan Oglesby combined to toss a four-hit shutout in Saturday's second game.

Trivino (3-1) allowed three hits, struck out five and did not walk a batter in the first six innings. Oglesby allowed one hit and struck out one in the bottom of the seventh to record his sixth save of the season.

Senior designated hitter Mitchell Monas collected three RBIs with a two-run home run in the first game and an RBI double in the second game. Monas was one of three Rock players who finished the day with two hits as part of an 11-hit afternoon.

Senior center fielder Matt Howard led The Rock attack with three hits, including a double in each game.

Saturday's wins improved The Rock's season records to 25-13 overall and division-leading 13-5 against division rivals. The latter mark is good for a one and one-half game lead over second-place Mercyhurst College.

The Rock has now won 18 of its last 23 games after starting the season with a 7-8 record.

Lock Haven has now lost six straight games, all against division rivals, and saw its season records fall to 16-19 overall and 6-12 against PSAC-West rivals.

The Rock and Lock Haven are scheduled to close out their four-game season series with a 1 p.m. doubleheader Monday at Jack Critchfield Park in Slippery Rock.

SRU scored one run in the top of the first inning of Saturday's first game to take an early lead before it broke loose for four runs in the sixth inning.

The first Rock run was manufactured from a leadoff walk by junior right fielder Derek Carr, a wild pitch, an infield single by junior second baseman Lee Foxton and a Lock Haven fielding error.

Key hits in the sixth-inning outburst were a solo home run by senior first baseman Derek DiRuscia, a two-run home run by senior designated hitter Mitchell Monas and an RBI double by junior left fielder Carter Haponski.

Sophomore third baseman Jamison Walck slapped a two-run single to left field in the top of the sixth inning to break a scoreless tie in Saturday's second game. Monas plated the final run of the day with a double down the left-field line that same inning.

Notes:

Oglesby's save total is the highest recorded by a Rock pitcher since Tom Dickinson had six in 1991. Dickinson is tied with Larry Ryan (1987) for second place on SRU's single-season saves list behind school recordholder Ken Ord, who had seven in 1990 ... DiRuscia and Monas each clobbered their second circuit clout of the season … The Rock, after hitting 11 home runs in the first 31 games this season, have smacked 10 in the last seven games ... Saturday marked the first time The Rock recorded shutouts in both games of a doubleheader since the Green and White blanked Clarion by 15-0 and 6-0 scores March 13, 2010 ... Jeney's no-hitter was the first one ever pitched at Foundation Field in Lock Haven, according to LHU school officials. The Bald Eagles have played their home games on that field since 1993.
