BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Hosting Bloomsburg University outscored Slippery Rock University by a 17-2 margin in the final seven-plus minutes Friday night to record a come-from-behind, 62-58 win in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference interdivisional men's basketball action.

With the win, the Huskies, who received votes in this week's National Association of Basketball Coaches Division II national poll, improved their overall record to 8-1 and their PSAC mark to 5-0.

SRU lost for the second time in its last three games and saw its season records fall to 4-3 overall, 2-3 against conference rivals.

The Rock will look to regain their winning ways at 4 p.m. Saturday when they take on Mansfield University on the Mounties' home court.

SRU, which had a 32-25 lead at halftime, held an 11-point, 56-45, lead with 7:45 left to play in Friday's game but then went ice cold.

Senior point guard Jon Valeriano scored a team-high 15 points and buried three 3-point shots for The Rock. Junior center Luiz Santos added 12 points and 10 rebounds to record his first “double-double” of the season. Senior forward Devin Taylor chipped in seven points and grabbed a team-high 16 rebounds.

The Rock finished the game with a 34% (23-68) efficiency on their field-goal attempts, made six of 20 shots from 3-point range and canned six of 11 (55%) free throws.

SRU had a 46-41 rebounding advantage and was also on the low end of a 14-11 turnover comparison.

Bloomsburg shot 39% (23-59) from the field, hit eight of 20 long-range shots and made a lukewarm 57% (8-14) of its free throws.
