SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Senior center fielder
Rich Michalek had four hits and collected five RBIs Sunday afternoon to lead the Slippery Rock University baseball team to a 5-2, 11-4 doubleheader sweep vs. visiting Lake Erie College in non-conference action at Jack Critchfield Park.
Sunday's results gave SRU three wins in the four-game weekend series and improved the Green and White's overall record to 3-13.
Lake Erie saw its season record fall to 13-26.
The Rock is scheduled to return to action at 1 p.m. Monday with a nine-inning single game againstt Division I Youngstown State at Eastwood Field in Niles, Ohio.
The next Rock home game is scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday, when West Virginia Wesleyan comes to town for an NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional regular-season doubleheader.
Michalek had one hits and picked up two RBIs in Sunday's first game, then went 3-for-5 with three RBIs, two runs scored and pair of doubles in Game 2.
Sophomore shortstop
Adam Jury also had four hits in the twinbill, including a double, and picked up two RBIs. He had a pair of hits and one RBI in each game and slapped a double in Game 1.
Freshman outfielder
Matt Kosik chipped in three hits for The Rock, who collected a total of 20 hits in the twinbill.
In the four-game series vs. Lake Erie, The Rock outscored their guests by a 35-16 margin and outhit the Storm by a 50-27 margin.
Junior right-hander
Vince Lloyd was SRU's Game 1 starting and winning pitcher Sunday. He allowed two earned runs on four hits, struck out six and walked four in the first six innings to improve his season record to 7-1.
Sophomore southpaw
Brett Vescovi allowed one hit in the final inning.
Game 2 starting and winning pitcher
John Thomas (3-0) allowed four runs (three earned) on five hits, struck out four and walked two in four innings.
Vescovi allowed one hit in two innings of relief in Game 2 before freshman right-hander
Nic McCowin struck out one and walked one in the final inning.

Junior catcher-first baseman
Matt Adams is tied for second place on SRU's single-season doubles chart with 21 this spring, is tied for fourth in single-season home run list with 12, tied for fifth place in single-season RBIs list with 56 and is tied for sixth in total hits with 75.
He currently carries a .481 batting average, which is the second highest in school history behind only a .486 mark compiled by Dan DeCola in 2000. His .838 slugging percentage is the best ever compiled by a Rock player, ahead of the previous best of .807 by Brad Lowe in 1998.
