TERIE, Pa. -- The Slippery Rock University softball team lost both ends of a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division doubleheader Friday at Gannon University as the Green and White fell by 11-4 and 13--0 scores.
The losses dropped SRU's season record to 14-16 overall, 3-5 in PSAC-West action.
Gannon swept a division doubleheader for the second successive day to improve its season record to 19-14 overall, 4-4 in PSAC-West action.
Jessica Guzewicz and Lauren Saulter each had one hit and one RBI and scored one run to lead The Rock's Game 1 offense. Courtney Vincent and Jordan Zeunges each scored one run.
Gannon took command of Game 1 with a six-run outburst in the bottom of the second inning.
Sheree Horvath was SRU's starting and loing pitcher. She allowed eight runs on eight hits in the first three and one-third innings.
In Game 2, The Rock managed only two hits, a single each by Jessica Ellebruch and Rachel Henderson.
Shauna Walker, Michelle McCutcheon and Lisa Getgen shared the mound duties in Game 2. Getgen allowed nine runs on six hits, Walker allowed three runs on four hits and McCutcheon one runs on two hits.
The Rock will look to avenge Friday's losses when it hosts Fannon at 3 p.m. Monday.
