FORT PIERCE, Fla. -- The Slippery Rock University baseball team smacked six home runs Friday afternoon en route to a 21-9 win over NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional rival Mansfield at the Bob Gladwin Baseball Complex.
The win improved the Green and White's season record to 9-4 and its spring-trip mark to 6-3 heading into Saturday's nine-inning single game vs. Mansfield.
Junior catcher-first baseman
Matt Adams led a 22-hit Rock attack with 4-for-5 game that included two doubles and a home run and resulted in four RBIs.
Senior center fielder
Rich Michalek was 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs, senior right fielder
Scott Bender was 3-for-5 with a HR, a double and three RBIs and junior second baseman
Billy Messer was 3-for-6 with a HR and two RBIs.
Sophomore
Derek Diruscia smacked a two-run HR, sophomore
Mitchell Monas clobbered a two-run HR and junior left fielder #Jacob Oswalt# added a double to round out The Rock's extra-base hits.
Junior southpaw
Rich Hocanson was the starting and winning pitcher. Sophomore southpaw
Brett Vescovi pitched the final two and one-third innings.
