Rock gets swept at Bloomsburg, 5-1 and 8-0

The losses dropped the Green and White's season record to 13-13

 

The Rock (13-13) extended their losing streak to seven games as they dropped both games against Bloomsburg University (17-3) this afternoon.

 

 

The first game ended with a score of 5-1. Sheree Horvath scored The Green and White's only run this afternoon when she blasted a homer in the top of the seventh inning. Horvath also tallied the team's only two hits.

 

Shauna Walker claimed the loss for SRU allowing six hits and five runs. Walker recorded five strike outs against the 27 batters that she faced this afternoon.

 

On defense, Horvath led Slippery Rock with 11 put outs. She was followed by Jessica Ellebruch and Kristen Brant that tallied four and three assists respectively in game one.

 

The Green and White defense held off the Huskies offense until the bottom of the third inning when the Huskies scored six runs. Jessica Kortz led the defense with eight putouts in the competition.

 

The Rock offense tallied six total hits, but no runs in game two.

 

Shaylee Ianno , Lisa Getgen and Sheree Horvath all shared time on the mound pitching 2.1, 2.2 and .2 innings respectively. Ianno allowed five hits and six runs while Getgen allowed only two hits. Horvath allowed two hits and two runs to score.

 

The Rock will take a few days off before returning home to host Mercyhurst at the SRU Softball Complex on April 3. The first pitch is set for 2 p.m.
