SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Slippery Rock University baseball team completed an unbeaten weekend of competition Sunday when it blitzed Bluefield State (W. Va.) by 10-0 and 14-4 scores in non-conference action at Jack Critchfield Park.
The wins were the fifth and sixth of the week for the Green and White and improved The Rock's season record to 17-7. SRU is now 13-6 against NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional rivals.
Bluefield State, a member of the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, saw its record fall to 8-7 with the losses.
The Rock outhit the Big Blue by a 23-11 margin behind 11 extra-base hits, including three home runs.
Junior catcher-first baseman

The Rock had nine hits, including six extra-base knocks, in Game 1 to give sophomore right-hander

Ritson, who improved his season record to 2-1, limited Bluefield State to only two hits, struck out 10, walked one and hit one batter in the first five innings. Sophomore southpaw
Brett Vescovi allowed two hits and struck out one in the final two innings.
Game 2 starting and winning pitcher
Sean Holliday allowed four earned runs on seven hits, struck out five and walked one in five innings to pick up a win in his first decision of the season. Junior right-hander
Justin Thomas struck out three in the final two frames.
The Rock is idle until Friday, when it will travel to Indiana (Pa.) for a 1 p.m. Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division doubleheader.
SRU is currently 5-3 in division games and one game behind co-leaders California (17-6, 6-2) and Mercyhurst (14-9, 6-2) and in a virtual tie for third place with Lock Haven (8-16, 3-1). Indiana is 9-7 overall, 3-5 in PSAC-West action.
