SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- The Rock worked a pair of overtime shifts Saturday afternoon and cashed the check on both occasions in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division action.

Jessica Kortz slapped an RBI single with one out in the bottom of the eighth inning to give SRU a 3-2 win in Game 1.

Meghan McHenry then smacked a walkoff, two-run home run with one out in the bottom of the eighth inning of Game 2 to give SRU a 4-2 victory.

In the process of eliminating Edinboro (16-16 overall, 8-8 PSAC-W) from the race for a PSAC playoff berth, Saturday's win improved SRU's overall record to 22-14 and its PSAC-West mark to 4-12.

The Rock will have little time to celebrate the sweep as the Green and White are scheduled to host Wheeling Jesuit (W. Va.) in a 1 p.m. non-conference twinbill Sunday.

Edinboro scored two runs on five hits in the top of the third inning of Game 1 to take a 2-0 lead, but that would prove to be the extent of any Fighting Scots attack.

Three Rock relief pitchers combined efforts to hold the guests scoreless on only three hits in the final five frames while SRU clawed its way back.

A solo home run by Jordan Zeunges leading off the top of the fourth inning trimmed the margin to 2-1 before a bases-empty blast by Jessica Ellebruch with one out in the sixth evened the count.

Zeunges, Ellebruch and Stacey Rhoades opened The Rock eighth with back-to-back-to-back singles and set the stage for Kortz's game-winning hit, which followed a fielder's choice groundball by McHenry.

Lisa Getgen picked up the win after she struck out one in the final two and one-third innings.

Prior to Getgen entering the pitching circle, Rhoades allowed two earned runs on six hits and walked one in three innings and Sheree Horvath allowed three hits, struck out one and walked one in two and two-thirds innings.

Getgen came right back to pitch a complete game in Game 2, in which she allowed two earned runs on five hits, struck out three and walked four.

Getgen also singled home SRU's first run with two outs in the bottom fo the second inning. McHenry had led off the inning with a double and trotted home on Getgen's hit.

Edinboro then took a 2-1 lead on a two-run home run by Dana Webb in the top of third inning, only to see The Rock come right back and tie the score in the bottom of the third.

Courtney Vincent reached on a two-base error to start The Rock third and went to third on a sacrifice bunt by Zeunges before she scored on a sacrifice fly by Ellebruch.

Ellebruch then singled to lead off The Rock eighth and scored what proved to be the game-winning run on McHenry's walkoff home run.
