Rock men run away from field in IUP Invitational

Indiana, Pa. - The eighth-ranked Rock men's team flexed its collective muscle last Saturday as it ran away from the field in the Indiana U. of Pa. Invitational.

The top five Rock runners finished the race in a pack to waltz away with the top five individual places. All five runners had the same identical time of 27:12.

The 1-2-3-4-5 finish gave SRU a perfect score of 15 points. Carnegie Mellon was second in the team scoring with 44 points.

Kevin Dustin was awarded first place, followed by Pat Reagan, Chris Geddis, Jeff Weiss and Matt Bluman.

The Rock's sixth runner, Brian Ulrich grabbed a No. 8 finish in the individual race with a 27:34 time, while Michael Combs was 14th at 27:56.

The 20th-ranked Rock women's team placed second behind the host team, IUP, 27-28.

The Rock's Katie Bork won the individual women's title with a time of 23:25, while teammate Jaime Wright placed third at 23:44. Brittany Lyons (25:02), Rebecca Younger (25:06) and Crystal Burnick (25:07) placed nith through 11th, respectively.

The Rock runners return to action this Saturday, Sept. 22, when they will compete in the Juniata
