Slippery Rock, Pa. - The Rock rode the long ball to victory in Game 1, then rode the three-hit pitching of Liz Pittman in Game 2 to record a 7-2, 5-0 doubleheader sweep of visiting Seton Hill University in non-conference action at the SRU softball complex.

SRU smacked four home runs, all solo shots, in the first game to improve its season total to 23.

Winning pitcher Sheree Horvath helped her own cause with a roundtripper (her second of the season). She was joined in the leisurely trot around the bases by Jessica Kortz (5th of the season), Meghan McHenry (2nd) and Stephanie Spisak 1st).

McHenry finished the day with three hits and four RBIs to pace a Rock attack that collected 15 hits in the twinbill, seven in Game 1 and eight in Game 2.

Kortz collected three hits and two RBIs on the day, while Courtney Vincent had three hits and two RBIs in Game 2. Vincent also swiped three bases in Game 2. She now owns a school-record 22 steals in 23 attempts this spring.

Horvath (2-2) allowed two unearned runs on four hits in a complete-game pitching effort in Game 1 before Pittman tossed her second shutout of the season in Game 2. Pittman (3-1) struck out one and walked two in her complete-game effort.

Weather permitting, The Rock is scheduled to play three doubleheaders in the next four days to open a 10-game road trip.

SRU is scheduled to visit Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division rivals California U. of Pa. and Clarion on back-to-back days (Friday and Saturday) and then travel to Gannon for a non-conference twinbill on Monday.

The next Rock home game is scheduled for April 14 vs. PSAC-West rival Edinboro (1 p.m. doubleheader).
