Slippery Rock, Pa. - Courtney Conron tossed her school-record fourth shutout of the season in Game 1 and Stacey Rhoades smacked her school-record 11th home run in Game 2 to lead The Rock to an 8-0, 13-5 sweep of visiting Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division rival Clarion on Wednesday.

The wins, both of which were recorded in reduced time in accordance with the "mercy rule," give SRU a four-game win streak heading into Thursday's 2:30 p.m. non-conference doubleheader vs. Mercyhurst.

The Rock is now 18-16 overall, 5-7 in PSAC-West action and 9-1 in home games this spring.

Conron struck out seven, walked three and scattered five hits in her first-game gem to even her season record at 6-6 with a six-inning complete game.

Rhoades gave Conron all the offensive support she would need as the junior shortstop was 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs in Game 1. Courtney Vincent was 3-for-4, Stephanie Spisak 2-for-2, Jessica Kortz collected three RBIs, Meghan McHenry had a double and Amber Phillips had a triple to complement Rhoades' performance.

McHenry (double) and Rhoades were both 3-for-4 in Game 2 and collected five and three RBIs, respectively, Kortz, who smacked a pair of home runs, also had three RBIs in the game, while Lisa Getgen added a double and home run and picked up two RBIs.

Sheree Horvath (4-3) allowed five earned runs on nine hits, struck out two and walked one in a five-inning complete-game pitching effort in Game 2.

Wednesday's twinbill was the first in a string of four The Rock will play in the span of four days. After hosting Mercyhurst on Thursday, SRU travels to Clarion on Friday (2:30 p.m.) and hosts California U. of Pa. on Saturday (1 p.m.).
