Bowie, Md. - The Rock returned to the .500 mark Sunday with a doubleheader sweep of hosting Bowie State University.

SRU won the first game by an 8-4 score and took the second game via a 6-2 margin.

The Rock will take an 8-8 record into Tuesday's scheduled home doubleheader vs. Ursuline College of Ohio (4 p.m. start).

Bowie State is now 7-7 this spring.

Stacey Rhoades paced The Rock's opening-game effort Sunday as she was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and four runs scored. One of her RBIs and runs scored came on a solo home run in the sixth inning, her second circuit clout of the season.

Amber Phillips also collected a pair of RBIs in Game 1, while Courtney Vincent and Kelly Wolfe each added a pair of hits and one RBI.

Phillips and Wolfe had a double each to round out The Rock's extra-base hitting effort.

Liz Pittman was The Rock's opening-game pitcher and improved her season record to 2-1. She allowed two runs (one earned) on five hits, struck out six and walked one in four and two-thirds innings.

Courtney Conron allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits, struck out two and walked two in the final two and one-third innings.

Lisa Getgen was SRU's Game 2 starting and winning pitcher and helped her own cause with a 2-for-3, three-RBI effort at the plate. Her two-run single in the fourth inning proved to be the game-winning hit.

On the mound, Getgen allowed two runs (one earned) on seven hits, struck out two and walked two in six-plus innings. Sheree Horvath retired all three batters she faced in the seventh inning to close out the win.

Jessica Kortz was 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs to join Getgen as the hitting stars in Game 2. Phillips had a triple and Rhoades and Whittney Warmus a double each to account for The Rock's extra base hits.
