The Rock rolled to it seventh and eighth wins of the season Sunday as it crushed Charleston (W. Va.) by 7-0 and 11-2 scores in NCAA Division II North Atlantic Region action at Terry Park.
SRU, which now owns an 8-1 overall record this spring, collected 11 hits in Game 1 and added 12 more in Game 2 to improve its team batting average to .321.
The Rock also played error-free defense and got strong pitching efforts from starters Chris Squeglia and Rich Hocanson.
Squeglia, in his first start since undergoing surgery and sitting out the 2006 season, scattered six hits in five scoreless innings in Game 1. He also struck out five and walked three.
Matt Lynn walked one and allowed one hit in the final two frames of Game 1.
Hocanson tossed a three-hit shutout in five innings of work in Game 2. He struck out four and did not walk a batter.
Scott Rice allowed two earned runs on three hits, struck out one and walked two in the final two innings of the second game.
Matt Adams was 2-for-4 and picked up three RBIs in Game 2 to lead The Rock attack, while Phil Butch had four hits in the two games, highlighted by a 3-for-4 effort in Game 1.Butch also picked up an RBI in each game to improve his team-high season total to nine.
Billy Messer was 3-for-5 with one RBI in Game 2 after sitting out the first game of the twinbill., while Scott Hugney collected three hits and one RBI in the doubleheader, highlighted by a 2-for-2 effort in Game 2.
Jacob Oswalt was 2-for-3 in Sunday's first game.
The Rock will look to continue its winning ways on Monday, when it will take on regional rival West Chester in a 4 p.m. game at Terry Park.
The same two teams meet in a 7 p.m. game on Wednesday.
Sunday's double dose of losses dropped Charleston's season record to 5-10.
