Rock falls by 76-59 score at Clarion

Clarion, Pa. - Erroll Robinson scored a team-high 13 points and Joseph Vines added 12 Sunday in The Rock's season-finale, 76-59 loss at Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division rival Clarion University.

The loss gives first-year head coach Jamal Palmer's squad a final record of 5-22 overall and 2-8 in PSAC-West action.

The Rock, for the seventh successive season, did not earn a berth in the conference playoffs this winter.

Clarion (13-14, 6-6), meanwhile, locked up the PSAC-West's fourth and final berth in this year's conference playoffs with its win Sunday.

The Golden Eagles trailed on only two occasions (8-7 and 10-9) in Sunday's game and held a double-digit lead for a majority of the game.

SRU trailed by nine points, 45-36. at halftime and got to within eight points (47-39) early in the second half before Clarion pushed the difference to double-digits.

The Rock shot a respectable 44.8% (13 of 29) from the floor in the first half of action before its shooting touch cooled to 33.3% (5 of 15) in the final 20 minutes to give the Green and White a final reading of 40.9%.

Clarion hit a white-hot 69.0% (20 of 29) of its shots from the floor in the first half before it cooled off to a 39.3% (11 of 28) reading in the final half to finish with a 54.4% efficiency.

Notes: Sunday's game was the collegiate finale for Rock senior Glenn Reepmeyer and Brandon Thompson ... The Rock's five wins this winter represented a three-game improvement over last winter's 2-25 campaign and earned Palmer a one-year contract extension.
