Indiana, Pa. -
Ashley Winkelstecht recorded an eye-popping 42 saves Tuesday afternoon but it wasn't nearly enough to propel The Rock to victory in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action at Indiana U. of Pa.
The Rock (1-5 overall, 0-5 PSAC) failed to score a goal for the fifth successive contest as IUP (4-3, 3-2) handed SRU an 8-0 loss.
In fact, The Rock attack never got started. SRU did not attempt a shot in the game, while Winkelstecht faced a barrage of 65 shots fired off by IUP.
The loss to the sixth-ranked Indians was The Rock's fifth straight at the hands of a PSAC team ranked in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association national top 10.
Earlier this season, The Rock lost 10-0 to top-ranked Bloomsburg, 8-0 to No. 2 Shippensburg, 7-0 to No. 7 East Stroudsburg and 9-0 to No. 8 Kutztown.
The Rock's next game is at No. 10 Mansfield on Saturday (4 p.m.).
SRU then opens a three-game homestand Sept. 29 with a 5 p.m. game against Bellarmine (Ky.) on Bob DiSpirito Field at N. Kerr Thompson Stadium.
