Jeremy Deighton's first collegiate goal proved to be a big one, as it accounted for the only goal in The Rock's 1-0 win over hosting Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference rival Millersville (0-4-2 overall, 0-4-2 PSAC).
Deighton's goal came off an assist from Jeff Hamley and improved The Rock's overall record to 5-2 and its PSAC mark to a conference-leading 5-1.
Freshman goalie Brandon McQuillen recorded his fourth shutout of the season to pace The Rock defensive effort.
The Rock hosts non-conference rival Bridgeport (1-4-1) in a 2 p.m. game Saturday on James W. Egli Soccer Field before entertaining East Stroudsburg, the No. 2 team in the PSAC, at noon Monday on Egli Field.
East Stroudsburg is currently ranked third in the Northeast Region and 17th nationally by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
The Rock is ranked sixth in the NSCAA regional poll.
