The Rock sustained its third successive shutout loss at the hands of a nationall ranked foe when No. 5 Kutztown recorded a 9-0 decision in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action Wednesday afternoon.
The Rock is now 1-3 overall, 0-3 in PSAC action as it prepares for a Sunday morning (11 a.m.) duel with defending PSAC champion Shippensburg on Bob DiSpirito Field at N. Kerr Thompson Stadium.
Shippensburg is also ranked in the National Field Hockey Coaches Assocation's national poll; the Red Raiders are the No. 8 team in this week's poll.
Earlier this season, The Rock lost a 10-0 decision to top-ranked Bloomsburg and a 7-0 decision to No. East Stroudsburg.
Rock goalie Tara Bailey reocrded eight saves in 65-plus minutes of action Wednesday, while backup netminder Ashley Winkelspecht played the final four-plus minutes.
The Rock was outshot by a 31-8 margin.
