Final Stats
Slippery Rock, Pa. -
Ed Mocarsky recorded an unassisted goal early in Wednesday's game, but it wasn't enough as visiting West Chester handed The Rock its first loss of the season, 2-1, in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action on Bob DiSpirito Field at N. Kerr Thompson Stadium.
Despite the loss, The Rock -- the defending PSAC champions -- remain atop the conference standings. SRU's 2-1 conference mark earns it six points i the conference rankings which award three points for a PSAC win and one point for a conference-game tie.
West Chester recorded its third win of the season and first in PSAC action.
Mocarsky's second goal of the season came less than two minutes into the game.
But those goals were offset by a pair of tallies recorded by West Chester's Mike Pryor prior to halftime.
Pryor's first goal came in the 14th minute, while the game-winning goal came in the 44th minute (69 seconds prior to intermission).
Rock goalie Brandon McQuillen recorded four saves, all in the final half of action, while WCU's Todd Deiter was credited with two saves.
West Chester outshot The Rock by an 18-11 margin.
The Rock returns to action on Saturday when it will host PSAC rival Shipensburg at 1 p.m. The game is scheduled to be played on James W. Egli Soccer Field.
Wednesday's game vs. West Chester was also scheduled to be played on Egli Field, but was moved to the artificial turf at Thompson Stadium when recent rain showers made Egli Field unplayable.
Saturday's game will be the second of a four-game homestand for SRU, which will play nine of its first 11 games on home turf. Six of The Rock's final eight regular-season games will be played in foreign territory.
