The Rock softball team saw its chances to earn a berth in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference playoffs narrow, dropping both ends of a twinbill against PSAC-rival Edinboro Friday afternoon by scores of 3-0 and 2-0.
In game one action, the hosts quieted The Rock's offensive attack, allowing only five hits.
Stacey Rhoades and Niki Banner both singled twice for The Rock.
Meghan McHenry ripped a triple for the only other Rock hit of the game.
Lisa Getgen who allowed four hits and struck out one batter in two and two-thirds innings of work and was tagged with the loss. Getgen's record now falls to 5-3 on the season.
The second game proved much of the same for The Rock, with The Rock bat attack producing six hits, but unable to push a run across the plate.
Kayla Ray led the way for The Rock in the game, collecting three hits, including a double.
Courtney Conron, Laura Campbell and Andrea Murdock each added a single.
Jenna Frieling hurled a complete game for The Rock, allowing 10 hits and striking out one in picking up the loss. Frieling is now 5-8 on the year.
With the losses, The Rock has lost five games in a row and falls to 18-18 overall and 4-10 in PSAC-West action on the year.
The Rock will look to get back in the win column Saturday afternoon when it travels to PSAC-West foe Clarion for a scheduled doubleheader. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
