Courtney Conron leads Rock past Columbia Union, 12-3

March 24, 2006

Takoma Park, Md. - Courtney Conron's five-RBI effort propelled The Rock to a 12-3 win in the second game of Friday's doubleheader at Columbia Union.

The victory came on the heels of an 8-0 whitewashing of the hosts in the first game and extended The Rock's win streak to three games.

SRU, which has won six of its last seven games, now owns a 9-7 record.

Columbia Union saw its record fall to 2-4 with the two losses Friday.

Conron was one of three Rock players who had two hits in the game. One of her hits was a home run.

Andrea Murdock and Stacey Rhoades each had two hits and collected three RBIs. One of Rhoades' hits was also a home run.

Kelly Wolfe picked up one RBI for The Rock.

The beneficiary of the hitting barrage was Rock freshman pitcher Jenna Frieling, who struck out 10 and walked two and allowed two runs on five hits in a seven-inning, complete-game pitching effort.

The Rock makes the short trip to Bowie, Md., before taking on Bowie State (3-5) in a noon doubleheader on Saturday.
