Brittany Hahn tossed a three-hit shutout and Lisa Getgen led The Rock attack with three hits to lead The Rock to an 8-0 win over hosting Columbia Union in the first game of Friday afternoon's doubleheader.
Hahn struck out nine and did not issue a base on balls in a seven-inning complete-game pitching effort to improve her season record to 5-3. She also had an RBI single to help her own cause.
As a team, The Rock improved its record to 8-7 with its second straight win and fourth in the last five outings.
Three Rock players had two hits each to complement Getgen's effort. Meghan McHenry collected two hits and two RBIs; Stacey Rhoades had two hits, including a double, and picked up one RBI and Andrea Murdock had two hits and one RBI. Lauren Saulter also picked up one RBI for SRU.
After meeting Columbia Union in the second game of Friday's twinbill, The Rock will take on Bowie State in a noon doubleheader on Saturday.
