The Rock softball team opened up its 2006 season today, splitting a pair of games at Ohio Valley.
In the first contest of the day, The Rock walloped the hosts by a score of 25-0 in five innings.
Brittany Hahn recorded her first win of the season, pitching 4 innings and striking out three.
Leading The Rock offensive attack at the plate was Stacey Rhoades and Lindsay Rodgers with two doubles and a single each.
Niki Banner belted a homerun and added a single; Meghan McHenry ripped three singles; and Carrie Casoni recorded two doubles and a single.
Game two saw the hosts plate all four of its runs in the first inning, en route to the win.
Freshman Jenna Frieling picked up the loss in her first collegiate outing, striking out two.
Amber Phillips led The Rock attack with two singles. Kaoni Rhodes recorded The Rock's only other hit of the game with a single.
The Rock will return to action March 11, when it travels to Ft. Myers, Fla. for its spring break trip. SRU will face off against Saint Joseph's (Ind.) for a 11:00 a.m. contest which will begin The Rock's 12 game stint in The Sunshine State.
