No. 21 Shippensburg crushes Rock, 77-34

Shippensburg, Pa. - The Rock shot an ice-cold 14.5 percent Saturday afternoon in its 77-34 loss at No. 21 Shippensburg in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division action.

SRU sank only eight of 55 shots from the floor en route to its 24th loss in 26 games this winter and 10th in 11 PSAC-West outings.

Shippensburg, the PSAC-West regular-season champion, improved its record to 21-4 overall and 10-0 in division play.

Brandon Thompson scored 12 of The Rock's points, while Dejan Jancic grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.

The Rock made 4 of 28 (14.3%) field goal attempts in the first half and trailed by a 40-12 margin at intermission.

SRU took one less shot than in the first half and had the same number of makes in the final 20 minutes as in the opening stanza and wound up with its lowest scoring total since a 19-point effort vs. Ashland in 1968-69.

The Rock will close out its 2005-06 season on Wednesday with an 8 p.m. home game against Indiana U. of Pa.
