Erie, Pa. -
Glenn Reepmeyer had team-high totals of 13 points and nine rebounds Saturday afternoon in The Rock's 86-61 loss at Mercyhurst (10-3).
Joseph Vines added 11 points and Kenny Smith chipped in 10 points for SRU, which sustained its third straight loss and saw its season record drop to 3-9.
The Rock's next game is a Jan. 7 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference "crossover" contest at Cheyney.
SRU returns home on Jan. 10 to host Lock Haven in the first game of the PSAC-Western Division schedule, then goes back on the road for three successive games.
The Rock never led in Saturday's game as Mercyhurst scored the first five points.
SRU cut the Lakers' lead to two points, 8-6, at the 15:30 mark of the opening half before the hosts took firm control of the proceedings.
Mercyhurst held a pair of 22-point leads in the latter minutes of the opening stanza and took an 18-point, 44-26, advantage into intermission.
The Rock scored the first eight points and 11 of the first 13 points in the second half to trim the deficit to nine points, 46-37, five minutes into action.
That was as close as The Rock would come, though, as Mercyhurst quelled the uprising and re-assumed its position of dominance.
The Lakers held a pair of 28-point leads in the final two minutes of action.
The Rock shot a respectable 45.5% (20 of 44) from the field in the game and got 29 points off the bench, but shot only 62.1% (18 of 29) from the foul line and were three of seven (42.9%) from 3-point range.
