Nov. 27, 2006

Final Stats

Ashland, Ohio - Kenny Smith scored a team-high 18 points and Jamar Scales added 15 to lead The Rock effort in a 97-71 loss at Ashland University.

Rashiid Coleman contributed 10 points to the SRU cause, while Glenn Reepmeyer grabbed a team-best seven rebounds.

The Rock (0-3), after being behind by as many as 19 points in the first half, trailed the hosting Eagles (4-2) by a dozen points, 51-39, at halftime.

That would be as close as SRU would come, though, as Ashland extended its advantage to as many as 31 points in the final 20 minutes.

The Rock will seek its first win of the season and initial win of interim head coach Jamal Palmer's career when it travels to West Virginia Wesleyan on Thursday.

SRU opens its home schedule at 3 p.m. Saturday against Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference "crossover" rival West Chester.

The Rock will then host Millersville -- Palmer's alma mater -- in another interdivisional game Sunday at 3 p.m.
