Rock rolls through three PSAC crossover foes

Kutztown, Pa. - The Rock completed its roll through Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference "crossover" competition last weekend with wins of Kutztown, Cheyney and Millersville.

SRU beat Kutztown in four games (30-26, 20-30, 30-25, 30-17) on Friday, then breezed to a 30-7, 30-6, 30-7 win over Cheyney before closing out the weekend with a 30-20, 30-15, 30-16 win over Millersville.

The wins gave The Rock a perfect 6-0 record against PSAC-Eastern Division teams this fall and improved SRU's overall record to 27-5.

The Rock is currently tied for second place in the PSAC-West with a 4-2 mark and will look to at least take over sole possession of that No. 2 spot on Tuesday when it visits California for a 7 p.m. contest.

The Rock and California currently trail Lock Haven by one game in the chase for the PSAC-West regular-season title and the right to host the six-team conference playoffs.

The top three teams in each advance to the conference playoffs.

Anastasia Urbanik recorded a team-high 16 kills and two blocks to lead The Rock effort vs. Kutztown, while Jen Blasko added 14 kills, four service aces and 20 digs and Louise Schultz had 13 kills, one block and one ace.

Sara Kirsch handed out 50 assists and had four kills and two aces vs. Kutztown; Gwen Oberlin had a team-best 24 digs and Caitlin Hubbard had 15 digs.

Emily Sandora chalked up 15 assists and seven service aces in the win over Cheyney, while Andrea Campbell had a team-high eight kills, two blocks and one ace and Katie Greco recorded seven kills. Courtney Fajerski recorded six aces and Danielle Huber had 13 assists and four aces.

Urbanik recorded 17 kills, three aces and two blocks in the win over Millersville; Schultz added 12 kills and two aces and Blasko had 12 kills, 17 digs, one ace and one block.

Kirsch handed out 41 assists and had 14 digs, four kills and two aces; Oberlin and Sandora had 12 digs each and Hubbard had 11 digs and two aces.
