Final Stats

Shippensburg, Pa. - Jeremy Deighton recorded a hat trick Saturday afternoon to lead The Rock to a much-needed, 4-3 win over hosting Shippensburg in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference action.

Deighton's third goal of the game, in the 54th minute of action, proved to be the game-winning tally.

That was the second time in eight days that the freshman forward scored the decisive goal; he accounted for the only goal of the game in SRU's 1-0 win Sept. 22 over Bloomsburg.

Chris Graham recorded the other Rock goal Saturday, while Patrick Cormac, David Flamer and Jeff Hamley each added an assist to the winning effort.

Rock goalie Brandon McQuillen turned aside five shots on goal by Shippensburg, which outshot The Rock by a 15-10 margin.

Saturday's win solidified The Rock's hold on the fourth and final PSAC playoff berth.

SRU now owns a 7-6 overall record and a 7-4 conference mark, the latter good for 21 points in the PSAC standings (three points for a conferrence win, one point for a conference-game tie).

West Chester (11-2, 9-1 PSAC) reassumed the conference lead with a 2-0 win Saturday over Millersville. East Stroudsburg (9-1-3, 8-1-2 PSAC), a 1-0 loser Saturday vs. Lock Haven, is one point behind the Golden Rams, followed by Lock Haven (9-4, 8-3 PSAC) with 24 points.

The Rock visits Kutztown (2-11, 2-9 PSAC) on Tuesday before travelling to fifth-place California U. of Pa. (5-5-3, 4-3-3 PSAC) next Saturday.
