Rock drops 77-65 decision at Millersville

Millersville, Pa. - Joseph Vines scored a team-high 16 points in a substitute role Sunday in The Rock's 77-65 loss to hosting Millersville in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference "crossover" action.

Vines was one of four Rock players who scored 10 or more points in the game.

Dejan Jancic scored 11 points and had a team-high eight rebounds, Matt Hale also had 11 points including three 3-point baskets and Jamar Scales added 10 points and six rebounds.

Sunday's loss was the 11th successive suffered by The Rock, which now has a 1-12 record.

Millersville evened its record at 6-6.

Scales scored the first basket of the game to give The Rock its only lead of the game. Millersville quickly overcame that deficit and assumed firm control of things.

The Marauders enjoyed a pair of 19-point leads in the first half before taking a 13-point, 36-23, advantage into the intermission.

The Rock trimmed the deficit to nine points (42-33) with 15 minutes left in the game and had the margin trimmed to eight (63-55) with 2:45 left.

SRU returns to action on Wednesday, when it will take on California U. of Pa. at 8 p.m. in the opening game of the PSAC-Western Division schedule.
