Scales, Jancic score in double figures in 53-48 loss at West Chester

West Chester, Pa. - Jamar Scales scored a team-high 14 points and had six rebounds and Dejan Jancic added 12 points and team-best seven rebounds Saturday afternoon in The Rock's 53-48 loss to hosting West Chester in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference "crossover" action in Hollinger Field House.

The loss was SRU's 13th straight and dropped The Rock to 1-14 this winter.

The Rock will seek to end the skid on Sunday when it visits Kutztown for a 3 p.m. to game conclude the seven-game "crossover" season series.

West Chester won its fourth straight game and improved its record to 9-5.

The Rock, as has been the case for most of the season, took the early lead Saturday.

SRU was ahead by a 12-4 margin with 13 minutes left in the first half on a three-point field goal by Matt Schaefer.

The Rock remained ahead until West Chester scored the final 11 points of the opening stanza to take a 27-20 lead into intermission.

The Rock trimmed the deficit to three on a pair of occasions, the second one a 46-43 score with four minutes left, but was unable to take a lead in the final 20 minutes of action.
