Slippery Rock, Pa. - Talk about a debut!

Meghan McGrath, a first-team All-America selection in 2003 who had knee surgery and sat out the entire 2004 season, celebrated her return to the lineup in grand fashion Wednesday afternoon.

McGrath, who did not play in The Rock's first two games this fall as a precautionary measure, scored both Rock goals in Wednesday's 2-1 win over visiting Lock Haven in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division opener.

The game-winning goal came off an assist from All-PSAC-West midfielder Jaimi Wilson in the 70th minute of action and broke a 1-1 tie.

That goal came 11 minutes after McGrath scored an unassisted goal to tie the score at 1-1.

Wednesday's win gives The Rock a 2-1 overall record and a 1-0 PSAC-West mark.

Rock goalie Jen McCormick recorded two saves; The Rock outshot LHU by a 19-9 margin.

SRU returns to action at 3 p.m. on Saturday when it will take on defending PSAC champion Indiana U. of Pa. in a road game.

The Rock's next home game is Tuesday, Sept. 13, when Shippensburg will invade James W. Egli Soccer Field for a PSAC interdivisional game. The game, the opener of a women's/men's doubleheader, is set to start at 2 p.m.
