Slippery Rock, Pa. -
Old Man Winter recorded a shutout for the third successive day and extended his winning streak to five games on Monday as he again forced the postponement of The Rock's Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division doubleheader at California U. of Pa.
The Rock and Cal were originally scheduled to meet last Saturday, but the games were subsequently rescheduled for Sunday and then Monday.
SRU and Cal will try again on Tuesday to play the games. First pitch of the opening game of the doubleheader is set for 1 p.m. at Falconi Field in Washington, Pa.
The Rock's scheduled nine-inning non-conference single game vs. Grove City, scheduled for 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Jack Critchfield Park, has been postponed and may be rescheduled.
SRU's single game vs. Westminster, originally scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday at Jack Critchfield Park, was also postponed and may also be rescheduled.
California currently leads the PSAC-West with a 10-4 league mark, followed by The Rock at 8-6 and Clarion and Shippensburg both at 9-7.
The Rock and Cal both have six PSAC-West games left to play this spring; Clarion and Shippensburg both have four games left on their conference schedules.
SRU will (weather permitting) close out its 2005 regular-season schedule with a four-game series next weekend vs. Lock Haven. The Rock travels to Bald Eagle territory for a 1 p.m. twinbill on Friday before hosting LHU in a 1 p.m. twinbill Saturday at Jack Critchfield Park.
