Mercyhurst, Pa. - Courtney Conron pitched a complete-game and four players had two-hit performances to lead SRU to a record-tying 23rd victory of the season, a 10-2 game-two triumph, which came after a 4-1 game-one loss in an inter-conference doubleheader Tuesday afternoon.

The Rock's 23rd victory ties a school record for wins in a season, which was set back in 1980 when SRU finished 23-5 under head coach Jan Kasnevich.

With the split, SRU moves its record to 23-17 overall; Mercyhurst holds a 13-16 record after Tuesday's action.

Conron (9-9) earned her ninth victory by firing her 13th complete-game of the season, surrendering just five hits, two runs (one earned) and one walk, while striking out two.

The 2005 version of The Rock holds the school record for home runs in a season with 29, but each of its 13 hits in game two were singles.

Stacey Rhoades and Andrea Murdock were catalysts from the leadoff and No. 2 spots for SRU, each compiling two hits while combining for four runs scored.

Rhoades also had two stolen bases; Murdock had one.

Conron helped her own cause with a 2-for-3 effort at the plate with an RBI.

Kate Krochmal rounded out SRU's two-hit efforts, going 2-for-4 with a run scored.

After Mercyhurst tacked up the first run of the game in its half of the second, SRU answered with three runs in the third and held a 3-2 margin through three full innings.

The Rock then scored seven unanswered runs, including four in the sixth, to seal its record-tying victory. SRU took advantage of five Mercyhurst errors and overcame four errors of its own.

Three runs in the bottom of the first inning of game one was all the runs Mercyhurst would need for the win.

SRU scored one run on a Melissa Lowrey single, which plated Jesse Gump, who reached on a double with two outs in the top of the first.

Brittany Hahn (12-6) took the loss, giving up nine hits and four earned runs, while striking out four.

SRU will look to surpass the 1980 Rock team and avenge being swept earlier in the season when it travels to California, Pa. for a 3 p.m. Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division doubleheader Friday.
