Slippery Rock, Pa. - Courtney Conron tossed a three-hit shutout and Stacey Rhoades smacked a two-run home run to lead The Rock to a 3-0 win over visiting Seton Hill in the first game of Thursday's non-conference doubleheader on the Harmony Road field.

The Rock committed four errors and allowed four unearned runs in the nightcap, but prevailed nonetheless by a 5-4 score to complete the sweep.

The wins improved SRU's record to 12-6 as it prepares to open Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division action with a 2:30 p.m. home doubleheader Friday vs. Indiana U. of Pa.

The Rock will then host California U. of Pa. in another PSAC-West twinbill on Saturday (1 p.m. start).

Rhoades' third home run of the season followed a leadoff single by Niki Banner in the bottom of the fourth inning and gave Conron the only runs she would need to even her record at 4-4.

Conron struck out four and did not walk a batter.

The Rock added an insurance run in the sixth inning when pinch hitter Alicia Dixon slapped an RBI double into the right field corner to score Carrie Casoni, who had walked.

Rhoades' home run and Dixon's double accounted for two of The Rock's five hits in the game.

Brittany Hahn scattered eights hits and withstood four errors by her teammates to pick up a complete-game win in the nightcap.

Hahn, who improved her record to 6-1, struck out six and walked two.

The Rock, after giving up two unearned runs in the top of the first inning, came right back and scored three times -- two of which were also unearned -- in the bottom of the first.

Laura Campbell had a sacrifice fly to plate The Rock's first run. The second and third runs trotted home on a throwing effort following a ground ball by Casoni.

Seton Hill parlayed a pair of Rock errors in the top of the third inning into its third run to tie the score at 3-3 before SRU got single tallies in the fourth and fifth frames to take the lead for good.

Casoni led off The Rock fourth with a single, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Kelly Wolfe and scored on an RBI double by Melissa Lowrey.

Campbell doubled home the eventual winning run in the fifth. Banner led off the inning with a single and moved to second on a ground out by Jesse Gump to set the stage for Campbell's crucial hit.

Seton Hill closed the final gap to one, 5-4, with an unearned run in the top of the sixth.

Lowrey and Andrea Murdock had two hits each to lead an eight-hit Rock attack in the second game.
