The Rock's chances of qualifying for one of four Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division playoff berths ended Wednesday night with SRU's 101-61 loss at Indiana U. of Pa.
Heading into the game, The Rock needed a win over Indiana, Pa. and an Indiana loss against Clarion on Saturday to earn a playoff spot.
The Rock closes its season with a 7-20 overall record and a 5-7 PSAC-West mark. IUP improves to 22-7, 7-4.
Glenn Reepmeyer led Rock scorers with 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds.
Bill Johnson finished his career Wednesday night with a 10-point effort.
Jason Bratten posted a team-high nine rebounds.
SRU was victimized by three IUP players who scored in double figures, including one 25-point effort.
SRU's 2-0 lead in the opening seconds of the game was the only advantage it held.
IUP jumped out to a double-digit lead in the first seven minutes and led by as many as 20 points (30-10) with 7:23 to go in the first half.
The Rock cut the deficit to 12 by virtue of a 17-9 run that ended with 1:07 left in the opening session and SRU trailed by a 42-27 margin at the intermission.
SRU came as close as 11 (53-42) in the first 4:10 of the second half, but the Indians took over from there, outscoring The Rock by a 48-19 margin from that point on.
