The Rock saw its four-game win streak and five-game unbeaten streak come to an end Wednesday afternoon as hosting Mercyhurst nipped SRU, 2-1, in non-conference action.
Sarah Mangiarelli scored the only Rock goal, an unassisted tally at the 28:15 mark in the first half. Her goal tied the score at 1-1, but the Lakers (8-2) came right back just over a minute later to regain the lead with the eventual game-winning tally.
Rock goalie Jen McCormick was credited with only one save in the game; The Rock outshot Mercyhurst by a 14-7 margin.
The Rock (6-3-2 overall, 3-0-2 PSAC-West) returns to action on Saturday, when it will travel to Lock Haven for a 3 p.m. game against their Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division rivals.
The Rock is currently second in the PSAC-West standings and is ranked seventh in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Northeast Regional poll.
Mercyhurst is ranked ninth in this week's Great Lakes Regional poll.
