Sept. 12, 2004

Slippery Rock, Pa. - Emma Wright and Sarah Arsenault each scored a goal in the second half to lead The Rock to a 2-2 tie against Northeast Regional rival Southampton College at Long Island University (4-0-1) on Bob DiSpirito Field at N. Kerr Thompson Stadium.

The tie keeps the Rock unbeaten at 5-0-1 for the season.

The Rock and LIU-Southampton entered the game ranked sixth and 17th, respectively, in the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America national poll and ranked 1-2 in the regional poll.

The Rock gave up two goals in the first 10 minutes before Wright's unassisted goal off a direct kick from 30 yards away in the 57th minute of play initiated the Rock comeback.

Arsenault tied the score at 2-2 when she scored her ninth goal of the season, an unassisted tally, in the 76th minute off a deflected shot by Julie Kirwan.

The Rock outshot LIU-Southampton by a 19-9 margin.

Rock freshman goalkeeper Karrine Riggins made five saves.

The Rock visits Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division opponent Edinboro for a 4 p.m. match on Wednesday.
