Junior outside hitter Layna Heilman-Houser recorded 12 kills and 28 digs to lead The Rock to a 3-1 win over the host team in the final match of the Colorado Christian tournament.
The win improved The Rock's record to 3-1 as it prepares for a pair of matches Friday, Sept. 4, against West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic foes in action hosted by Clarion University. SRU will tangle with Salem International at 11:30 a.m. and Glenville State at 2:30 p.m.
Sophomore outside hitter Lindsay Weber also had 12 kills and added 19 digs in The Rock's win over Colorado Christian.
Junior middle blocker Megan Smith also had 12 kills, freshman setter Stephanie Skiles had 19 digs, sophomore defensive specialist Gwen Oberlin added 16 digs and sophomore setter Sara Kirsch handed out 44 assists.
Kirsch was named to the all-tournament team.
