Senior third baseman Chase Rowe and junior first baseman Billy Wolfe had two hits each and senior center fielder Matt Kozusko smacked an RBI triple as The Rock snapped a four-game losing streak with a 4-0 win over hosting California in the first game of Friday's Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division doubleheader at Falconi Field.
The Rock scored two runs in each of the first two innings to account for all of its offense. SRU had eight of its 11 hits in the first two frames, as well.
Senior right fielder Jason Curry and senior left fielder Ben Marzullo each had an RBI single to center field to plate The Rock's first-inning runs.
Kozusko's triple and an RBI single by Rowe accounted for SRU's second-inning tallies.
Senior southpaw Steve Norris pitched a four-hit shutout to improve his record to 2-3. He struck out six, walked two and hit three batters.
California's only serious scoring threat came in the bottom of the third inning when the Vulcans loaded the bases with one out. Norris slammed the door at that point, though, as he recorded back-to-back strikeouts to leave the bags full.
