Box Score
Shippensburg, Pa. -
The Rock had the bases loaded in a pair of innings but could not get the key hit to score the runs and were handed a 4-0 setback by nationally ranked Shippensburg in the first game of Saturday's crucial Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division doubleheader in Shippensburg.
Senior right fielder Jason Curry, who had two of The Rock's five hits in the game, got a second-inning rally with a one-out single. Senior left fielder Ben Marzullo and junior catcher Brad Wilson followed with singles to load the bases, but Shippensburg pitching ace Evan Englebrook shut the door on the threat by recording a strikeout and a pop out.
Curry also had a single in the fourth inning, when The Rock loaded the bases with two outs. The rally ended harmlessly with an inning-ending fly out.
Shippensburg got the only runs it would need when the Red Raiders' second hitter, Ryan Lindstadt, hit a two-run home run in the top of the first inning.
The hosts padded their margin with two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Senior southpaw Steve Norris pitched a complete game for The Rock and only allowed three hits, but saw his record fall to 1-3. He allowed three earned runs, struck out three and walked six.
