March 9, 2004

Box Score

Savannah, Ga. - Junior shortstop Jesse Gump and senior right-fielder Bobbi Kyler were each 3-for-3 with three RBIs to lead The Rock to its second successive 14-0 whitewashing of hapless Division I rival Savannah State.

The win evened The Rock's record at 2-2, while Savannah State fell to 0-11.

The Rock scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning and added six tallies in each of the second and third frames en route to the run-rule-shortened victory.

Junior designated player Maureen Brown added a pair of hits and two RBIs and freshman first baseman Kelly Wolfe also had two RBIs in a 13-hit Rock offensive attack.

Sophomore right-hander Laura Campbell threw three hitless innings, struck out five and did not walk a batter to even her record at 1-1.

The Rock returns to action on Monday when it travels to the University of North Florida, the No. 4-ranked Division II team in the nation according to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association preseason poll.
