Salem International hands Rock 5-3 setback

Fort Myers, Fla. - Salem International scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning Friday to hand The Rock a 5-3 setback in a battle of NCAA Division II North Atlantic Regional rivals.

The loss dropped The Rock's team record to 3-3.

SRU will take on Bloomsburg and Alderson-Broaddus in a pair of single games on Saturday.

Redshirt freshman southpaw Colin Scott was was charged with the two sixth-inning runs and was tagged with the loss approximately three hours after picking up a save in The Rock's 3-2 win over Saginaw Valley.

Senior southpaw Steve Norris allowed three runs on five hits, struck out six and walked four in the first five innings before giving way to Scott. Senior right-hander Nick Armstrong recorded the final two outs.

Senior shortstop Nathan Statzer had a pair of hits, including a double, to lead The Rock offensive attack. Senior catcher/DH Joe Pascarella, senior third baseman Chase Rowe, junior right fielder Dave Gonos and senior left fielder Ben Marzullo had one hit each.
