The Rock scored nine runs in its final two at-bats Wednesday to record a 12-10 win in the second game and salvage a split of the non-conference doubleheader vs. Pitt-Johnstown.
UPJ (13-7) enjoyed a 9-3 lead at the middle of fifth inning before SRU (12-8) closed the gap with four runs in the bottom of the fifth.
The Rock added five runs in the sixth inning and then held the Mountain Cats to only one tally in the top of the seventh to record the win.
Nathan Statzer had three hits, including a double, to lead an 11-hit Rock attack and also picked up four RBIs. Joe Pascarella and Trent Berner (two RBIs) added two hits each, while Ben Marzullo had a double.
Derek Blyzwick pitched a complete game for SRU. He allowed 10 runs -- only four of which were earned -- on 10 hits, struck out two and walked three.
The Rock is scheduled to host a doubleheader vs. Salem International (W. Va.) at 1 p.m. Thursday (weather permitting) before entertaining Clarion in a 1 p.m. twinbill on Friday to open the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference-Western Division schedule.
